Mental Health Awareness Program
Badili Centre launched its first mental health awareness program in 2017 at Karibu Centre Thika.
This program was launched in memory of Pastor Hannah’s late Sister Emily Cain
The Mental Health Awareness program addresses the causes, prevention, and treatment of mental illnesses, aiming to bridge the gap between science, social support, and faith-based approaches in mental health recovery.
Mental health challenges are a global crisis, with 8 million deaths annually attributed to mental illnesses.
The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 1 in 4 people globally will face a mental or neurological disorder. In the U.S, over 61 million are affected each year.
In Europe, 1 in 15 suffer from major depression, and in Africa, stigma and misinformation continue to hinder diagnosis and treatment. A Kenyan case study reveals that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental illness, yet mental health resources remain scarce.
Badili Centre is committed to using media platforms, community training, and research-based advocacy to break stigma, educate the public, and influence policy changes. Our goal is to see better support systems and early intervention strategies implemented globally, ensuring that no one faces mental illness alone.
